Single-sex education is the practice of education where male and female students attend separate (独立的) classes or in separate buildings or schools. There are such classes or schools in many countries around the world, such as the UK, US, Australia and Canada. According to a study released by Cambridge University, boys’ abilities in English, which is a subject girls are often better at, were better if they went to a boys-only school. At the same time, girls at girls-only schools improved their performance in math and science. However, there is also against opinions. In 2011, the journal Science published a study said that this kind of education increases gender stereotyping (刻板印象).
