WHEN my parents and I stood at the bottom of the Lanyue Snow Mountain in Lijiang, Yunnan, it seemed that all the beautiful scenery (风景) belonged to us. Even though there was no snow on its top when we visited it in July, the mountain itself had an inner beauty that would move anyone.
