Service, not money, brings prestige

Every few years, Harris Interactive, a global market research company based in the US, conducts a national survey to assess the prestige of different jobs. In the latest such survey in 2009, firefighters were deemed by 62 percent of respondents to have “very great prestige”, followed by nurses (54 percent) and teachers (51 percent). Interestingly, only 15 percent of respondents considered actors to be prestigious, while brokers finished last with 5 percent.
