FESTIVALS and food are always closely related, both in China and in Western countries. If Christmas dinner is the most important feast of the year for Westerners, the dinner on lunar New Year’s Eve is its Chinese equivalent. These are the times when family members – no matter how far from home they are – reunite and enjoy a dinner together, catching up on the days they’ve missed from each other’s lives and wishing each other good luck for the coming year.
