Didi Taxi, a mobile taxi-*hailing app invested in by Chinese Internet giant Tencent, announced on Monday that it would continue to offer *subsidies of 10 yuan to drivers and passengers for each successful ride arranged over the app. This is a dramatic reversal after it lowered subsidies to 5 yuan a week ago. The high-profile cash-burning war now continues between China’s two leading Internet firms, Tencent and Alibaba. Previously, both firms had backed taxi-hailing apps, offering 10-yuan cash back to both the passenger and the driver for each ride arranged through the mobile apps.
