CENTURIES ago, Italian scientist Galileo looked up at the starry sky and noticed something strange. With the naked eye, Venus (金星) appeared larger than Jupiter (木星). But when he looked through a telescope, Jupiter appeared much bigger. How can this be possible? It’s a popular example of an optical illusion (视错觉).
