Choose the right weight

Greg Justice, an exercise physiologist, shared a simple trick for selecting weight in Women’s Health magazine: Find the heaviest free weight you can pick up and do a move with (bicep curl, chest press). Once you know the heaviest weight you can lift, you’ll want to choose a weight for your actual repetitions that’s around 60 to 70 percent of the weight of the heaviest one.
