The emission (排放) of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide causes global warming. China has set new goals to deal with the problem, aiming to have carbon dioxide emissions peak before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality (碳中和) before 2060. Chinese President Xi Jinping announced this at the 75th United Nations General Assembly on Sept 22. This is the first time that China has revealed (透露) the goal of carbon neutrality to the public with a specific timeline.
