  英国文化协会近日公布了英语教学产品和服务创新奖候选名单。该奖项旨在鼓励英语语言教学新创意和新资源的开发,被誉为英语教学领域的“奥斯卡”奖。

AN ONLINE English language course that focuses on real-life situations and vocabulary, and quizzes that can be downloaded as a podcast are two of the resources shortlisted for this year's British Council Innovation Awards.

The annual awards for ELT products and services, known as the Eltons, are claimed to be the Oscars of the ELT world. They are offered to outstanding new language learning resources which use innovative ideas to help learners of English achieve their goals.

The awards celebrate the significant advances being made in the business of teaching of English as a foreign language.

Other nominations include an online course that gives teachers practical advice on using ICT (Information and Communications Technology) in the classroom, a dictionary specifically designed for advanced students, and an interactive "language garden" that teaches grammar and syntax using "mind map" diagrams.

The awards ceremony will take place in London on 1 March 2007. The three winners will each receive a cash prize of £1,000.
