Madonna was refused the right to adopt a second child by a court in the African country of Malawi last week. The singer adopted a child from an orphanage in Malawi in 2006. This time she was rejected on the grounds that it could set a precedent for child trafficking. Under normal adoption rules, anyone adopting a child from Malawi must have lived in the country for 18 months. The recently divorced 50-year-old Madonna has appealed against the decision.
