Ireland's shamrock plants disappearing from the countryside

IRELAND could have used a little global warming this winter, because the cold weather seems to have nearly snuffed out the shamrock. This is the three-leaf member of the clover family of plants widely worn by Irish all over the world on March 17, or St Patrick’s Day. Actually, botanical experts attribute the country’s shamrock shortage not just to the harsh winter, but also to evolving agricultural methods.
