A US research team has developed a new 3D printed material and made it into a “bandage” for hearts with defects (缺陷). The material is elastic (有弹性的) and therefore able to resist the heart’s pulsing (脉动). It can also be easily made into different shapes. Traditional 3D printed materials tend to break under pressure. The team was inspired by worms, which have both solid and liquid-like properties. This new material sticks well to animal tissues and organs even when they move. Apart from being a useful material for medicine, it could also have an impact on the manufacturing industry (制造业).
