Background information
NABE is the only professional organization at the national level wholly devoted to representing both English language learners and bilingual education professionals. It represents a combined membership of more than 20,000 bilingual and English-as-a-second-language teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals, university professors and students, researchers, advocates and policymakers.
The NABE conference is the largest gathering of those dedicated to serving English language learners. Its annual meeting has expanded beyond the field of bilingual education to include dual immersion and foreign languages, especially English as a Second Language, sheltered instruction and other approaches for minority students from pre-K to grade 12.
