SUNITA Williams, a US astronaut(宇航员), set a new sporting record recently. She ran a Marathon on the International Space Station in space and finished 42 kilometers.
While running, Sunita Williams was attached by bungee cords to a running machine in the space station. At the same time, her competitors were on the earth, in the northeastern US city of Boston.
"She circled the earth at least twice. She ran as fast as 13 kilometers per hour, but flew more than eight kilometers each second." NASA(National Aeronautics and Space Administration) said.
The 41-year-old Williams was the first person to run a Marathon in space. She said she ran in order to encourage kids to do more exercises in their daily lives.

Dressler said that breaking the bad news only takes about three minutes and leaves the person receiving the message shocked.
A CANADIAN artist is making guitars out of thrown-away cigar boxes. His products sell well on the Internet.
Instead of making a guitar out of wood, the artist Pitoth Robert uses empty cigar boxes. This kind of guitar has a century-old tradition and was born out of poverty. But now, it is popular again because of its quality and creativity.
"It takes between six and eight weeks to get one of my guitars." said Pitoth Robert. He sells his guitar on e-bay, and so many guitar fans love his products that a magazine has written about them.
Now, local cigar sellers can't even provide used boxes fast enough to him because his guitars are so popular.
