Robot hosts South Korean wedding 机器人当司仪
A ROBOT acted as master of ceremonies at a South Korean wedding. Its creators said this was the
first time a robot had been used for such an event. Seok Gyeong-Jae, a Korean
engineer, helped design the robot. He decided to let it assist in his wedding.
The robot, Tiro, had a cone-shaped body, two arms, and a head with dark-glasses.
The eyes and mouth were flashing lights. The robot introduced the couple to
guests in a male voice, and performed various other duties. The manufacturer,
Hanool Robotics, put Tiro’s value at 200 million won ($215,000). It said the
robot would be upgraded to perform other functions.

“Robin Hood” banker goes to prison “现代罗宾汉”被判入狱
A GERMAN banker has been sent to prison for two years and 10 months. Because
he was stealing money from rich clients to help poor ones. The 45-year-old banker
held a senior position at a savings bank. He found that some clients were poor,
so he put rich people’s money into their accounts. But then he lost track of
the money and forgot where it was coming from. This went on for five years.
The man took 2.1 million euros ($2.79 million) in all. He stopped the scheme
in January 2006, and turned himself over to police. A spokeswoman for the court
said, the man hadn’t used the money to enrich himself. So the German media called
him a modern day Robin Hood.

Mugger goes from robber to robbed 偷钱包不成反被抢
A WOULD-BE German thief became a victim himself.
He tried to rob a taxi driver but had his own wallet taken by the driver. This
happened in the western town of Aldenhoven. A 20-year-old man stole a driver’s
wallet, but the driver saw it immediately. They fought with each other. In the
end, the driver not only got his own wallet back, but also took the young man’s.
The driver then locked himself in his taxi and called the police. When the police
arrived, they found the young man waiting for them. He wanted to get his wallet
back. The police questioned the young man, and let him go, returning his wallet.
But he had to pay for attempted robbery.
几天前,德国一名企图在出租车上偷司机钱包的小偷不仅没有偷到钱,反而被司机给抢了。
