Abstract: English reading and writing abilities are closely related to each other. Learners can improve their English writing ability through extensive newspaper reading in that guided reading of newspaper articles of various styles, subjects from different cultural norms could furnish them with linguistic, conceptual and rhetorical input for writing. In addition, this practice is likely to enhance learners’ critical thinking. The employment of reading-to-write tasks with brainstorming is a feasible and helpful method to do so.
