“气候与天气”话题课堂活动设计

如今,外语教材已突破以语言知识点为线索的编排体系,倡导以“话题”(Topics)(如“节日”“音乐”“电影”等)为主线安排教学内容,外语课堂也必将以“话题”为中心展开。“教学指导”专题每月选取一个“话题”,摘编最流行的词汇和最新的相关报道,为教师提供更丰富、更新鲜的教学资料和课堂活动设计方案,帮助教师营造轻松有趣的课堂气氛,让学生在体验真实语言的同时扩展视野。

“气候与天气”是学生在英语课堂上经常讨论的话题。通过学习该话题的相关文章,学生能够增加对世界地理知识的了解,扩展课外文化知识。本期,本报为教师设计了关于“气候与天气”话题的课堂活动,以供教师参考。
争当优秀天气预报员
教师将学生分为2人一组,要求他们自选一座城市,通过看电视或上网了解该城市的天气状况,并在课堂上为该城市做一次天气预报。教师可要求学生画出天气预报简图,为其他学生演示天气预报。

Weather in Beijing
Hello, everybody.Welcome to today's weather forecast. Now let's look at the map and see how the weather will be in Beijing tomorrow. It will be a little rainy in the morning and sunny in the afternoon. The temperature will be 13-25 degrees centigrade. Put on some warm clothes and do not forget to take your umbrella or raincoat when you go out.
看天气,编对话
假设学生要去某城市旅游一周。教师可让学生提前了解该城市的天气特点,2人组成一组并自编一个对话,内容为讨论旅行前的准备工作。学生在课上表演对话,由其他小组评出班级最佳表演奖。
参考对话:
A: I will travel to Guangzhou tomorrow. Will you help me pack my bag?
B: Sure. What do you want to take?
A: Guangzhou's weather is not like Beijing's. It will be very hot in a few days. The forecast says the high temperature will be 31 degrees centigrade.
B: So hot! You'd better take some cool clothes, sunglasses and sun cream.
A: Right. It's important to protect the skin when you are out in the sun!
积累天气词汇
英语中有不少表示天气的单词或词组具有丰富的引伸义。教师可让学生在课外搜集这类词组,并在课堂上进行交流,以扩大其词汇量,提高学习兴趣。
