US author Edward P. Jones won one of the world's most lucrative and prestigious literary honours on June 15. He won the 2005 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. It carries a cash prize of about $150,000. The Washington-born author won for his novel The Known World. It also won the fiction category of the 2004 Pulitzer Prize and the 2004 US National Book Critics Circle Award.

According to Malaysian Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr Fong Chan Onn, skills and qualifications alone are not enough to ensure that graduates will land jobs. "It is not enough to know only the language, you need to understand the subtleties of the language, too," Fong said.
