Russia launches English language TV

RUSSIA's first 24-hour English-language news channel, Russia Today, launched its trial broadcast on September 15. Chief editor Margarita Simonyan said the channel employed 344 people, including 72 foreign experts. The station will broadcast news in English in Europe, North America, Asia and Africa. It aims to polish Russia's image abroad and present foreign audiences with the nation's view of the world.
