WHEN speaking at the Expo for Communicative English Language Learning last week, Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said the main problem for students in improving their English was that they tended to think in Thai and then translate their thoughts into English before speaking or writing, according to The Bangkok Post. Shinawatra said he would support schools promoting English language learning with modern technology and foreign teachers.

THE Korea Times, a daily newspaper published in South Korea, launched The Learning Times, an expanded edition of its English language study supplement on December 14, according to The Korea Times. The Learning Times is designed to provide the readers with more content in English education and includes two sections, one for adults and the other for young students. The section for young readers consists of reading and writing exercises.
