ETS announced that a worldwide phased launch of the new TOEIC test is slated to begin in early 2007. The new test includes more authentic English-language reading and listening tasks. The major changes in the listening and writing section include: use of recorded as well as written questions in Part 3 (conversations) and Part 4 (short talks); adoption of different accents of English in the recording; elimination of Part 5 (error-recognition questions) of the current TOEIC test.
'Harry Potter' wins Book of the Year

BRITISH writer J.K.Rowling's latest teenage wizard tale, "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince", was named Book of the Year last week at the 17th annual British Book Awards. British writer and playwright Alan Bennett won Author of the Year. His most recent book, "Untold Stories", is a series of autobiographical sketches. First presented in 1990, the British Book Awards, known as the "Nibbies" after the shape of the award, were founded by Publishing News, one of the UK's leading book trade publications.
