Online guide to help improve literacy skills

  英国启动语言能力培训系统


  AN ONLINE guide to help school leaders plan and implement training for their support staff in language and literacy skills has been launched by the UK Training and Development Agency for Schools. The Skills for Life Planner is part of the government’s Skills for Life strategy, which aims to raise literacy and language skills among British adults. The planner provides printable checklists, template forms for skills analysis, suggested questions for training providers and advice on reward.

  
Philip Roth wins first ever Saul Bellow Award

  US writer Philip Roth has won the first PEN/Saul Bellow Award for Achievement in American Fiction. Roth was awarded the PEN/Faulkner Award for the third time last month for his latest book, Everyman, a novel about illness and mortality inspired in part by Bellow’s death. The PEN/Saul Bellow Award honors distinguished living American fiction author whose work in English possesses qualities of excellence. The award will be given every two years. 21ST
