THE number of English language study programs offered by Dutch institutions of higher education is set to rise this year. The Netherlands will thus retain its position as one of the biggest providers of English language higher education in continental Europe. The increase in the number of courses is a response to growing interest among students throughout the world in Dutch degrees and diplomas.

STANDARDIZED testing in primary schools in Ireland is set to be introduced before the end of September under plans being finalized by the Department of Education. Schools will be free to choose a variety of tests that have been developed to show how a pupil performs in English on a national or standardized scale.
