ONLY 11.6 percent of English lecturers in Vietnam have international English certificates, a survey under the framework of a project on heightening the quality of English teaching has found. The survey has also found out that the majority of lecturers do not have master’s degrees or doctoral degrees, which means that Vietnam does not have a good force of English teachers, in terms of both English capability and pedagogical capability. Very few lecturers have taken examinations and received a TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) certificate, which shows the need to have the lecturers trained in order to help them get updated information and upgrade their teaching methods.
