US Ambassador Kristie Kenney recently said at an education summit that Filipinos are regaining their mastery of English in Asia. Though the Philippines had once lost advantage in the global market as Filipinos’ English proficiency deteriorated, Kenney pointed out a number of US companies had resumed hiring Philippine workers due to their mastery of English.

According to him, Malaysians must ensure they are able to speak English, which is crucial to Malaysia’s tourism development as the country embarks on programs like Malaysia My Second Home, which is open to foreigners wishing to reside in Malaysia on a long term basis.
