EDUCATIONAL Testing Service launched the internet-based TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) speaking and writing tests for the first time in US recently. The tests allow experts to measure a test taker’s ability to use spoken and written English in the workplace, offering a four-skill assessment — listening, reading, speaking and writing — and providing teachers with relevant information about test takers’ skills.

AN INFLUENTIAL German comparative product testing foundation has recently suggested that Germans considering English language courses abroad next year should travel to England. After surveying the quality of English language teaching in England and Malta, a country in which most Germans choose to study English, the foundation found England to be a better destination.
