AN online English language program called USA Learns, aimed at providing out-of-class support for adult migrants with limited English language and literacy skills in the US, is on track for delivery in 2008. According to the US Department of Education, two prototype 20-unit English courses will be ready for field-testing with students in spring. If judged successful, the program will be available to learners across the US from September 2008.

According to the SSTA, more interpreters are needed in the classroom to translate instructions from English into the children’s native language.
