电子辞典在英语写作教学中的运用

引言

写作是一项高级语言活动。除了写作策略外,词汇量是影响写作能力的主要因素之一。词典作为语言学习的重要工具,是词汇学习中不可或缺的一环。因此,教师在写作教学中充分利用词典可以有效地帮助学生扩大词汇量,进而提高英语写作能力。

Casio电子辞典的“单词查询”“分类查询”“例句查询”等功能能够帮助学生在英语写作过程中迅速找到自己需要的单词、词组及相关例句,并能为其提供某一类词汇(如描述人物性格的词汇),使学生得以在表述同一件事物时灵活运用不同表达法。

本期刊登的教学案例为广州铁一中学丁丹老师指导的利用Casio电子辞典进行英语写作教学的课堂案例,供读者学习和参考。

教学案例

教学课型:

写作讲评课(五句话基础写作)

教学内容:

根据下列提示,写一篇介绍著名发明家贝尔的文章。

1.贝尔1847年出生于苏格兰,但在他还很小的时候,全家就搬到了美国的波士顿。

2.他的母亲几乎全聋了,因此他有志于帮助聋人交流,并从事聋人教育事业。这一爱好促使他发明了麦克风。

3.他对周围的事情充满了好奇心,并想方设法地解决生活中的许多问题。这种精神成就了他最著名的发明——电话。

4.贝尔一生都在发明创造,他是位永不停息的探索家,他不断寻求着改善人们生活质量的途径。

考纲课标要求:

1.能写出语意连贯且结构完整的短文;

2.能在写作中做到文体规范、语句通顺。

教学目标:

1.知识技能:在讲评中,引导学生利用电子辞典进行一词多译,一句多译,归纳句型表达,拓展词汇,建立相关话题词汇库。

2.过程与方法:突出学生的主体性,指导学生运用电子辞典的不同功能完成教学的不同环节,通过竞赛进行字—词—句—篇练习,提高学生语言运用能力。

3.情感与价值观:增强学生对英语的学习兴趣,培养学生的自学能力,养成归纳总结的习惯,做学习的有心人。同时,通过对本话题的写作,让学生懂得介绍人物的常用方法。

教学重点:

1.The skills of evaluating and polishing a basic writing.

2.Some useful words and expressions to express the content.

教学难点:

1. The logic, useful words and expressions to describe a person.

2. The discourse framework that students have to build up during the process of writing.

教学方法:

Discussion and analysis, deductive methods

教学媒体:

A multimedia, CASIO EV-SP2900 Electronic Dictionary and a blackboard

本课主要应用电子辞典的下述功能:

*单词查询

*真人发音

*单词跳查

*分类查询

*单词搭配查询

*多词典例句查询

教学环节:

1. Lead-in: A brief summary of Bell. (Find some information about Bell.)(见图一、二)

2. Discussion: What is the key information in the writing material?

a. title

b. birthplace

c. background

d. hobby/interests/characteristic

e. achievements

f. evaluation

3.Direction: inform the students of the teaching aims of this lesson(基础写作析与练)

In this lesson, with the help of the electronic dictionary, we are going to learn how to

◆ evaluate and polish a composition

◆ master some accurate expressions

◆ enrich vocabulary

4. Analysis and evaluation of the basic writing:

Competition time: 一词多译 (从事/尽力)

List different kinds of expressions (1 point 1 phrase )

E-Dictionaries are forbidden first, you can check your answers with the help of your CASIO E-Dictionaries after competition.(见图三、四)

8. Translation

A. 概况 (尽量用非谓语,使文章简洁、通顺)

郑远山是个近视的男生,鼻子上架着一副眼镜。 (见图八、九)

B.性格 (with结构)

虎背熊腰的的数学老师对我们既严格又耐心。

Our maths teacher who has thick and powerful back and shoulders is strict and patient with us.

C.生平经历 (用倒装, 定语从句,分词等)

龚怡不仅对学习感兴趣,而且很有音乐天赋。

Not only is Gong Yi interested in study but also she has a gift for music.(见图十)

D. 评价(注意运用一些动词,形容词等短语/词组)

梁穗成给我们作出了榜样, 大家都赞扬他。

Liang Suicheng has set a good example to to us and all the people speak highly of/ think highly of him.

9. Conclusion: Basic writing tips on introducing a person

a. 5个句子整合语言点 (概, 格, 平, 评)

b. 巧用多种结构 (非谓语, with结构,倒装等)

c. 积累描写人物的常用词

10. Homework assignment

a. Fill in the form with your personal information and introduce yourself to your partner with what has been learnt.

b. Build a word bank of the topics related to the writing.

课后反思:

在本堂写作课中,笔者感受到使用电子辞典所带来的优势。它外形轻便,查阅快捷,学生不仅能够在课堂上有限的写作时间内及时查询到写作所需的词汇及相关例句,还能独立在课后快速、方便地利用电子辞典完成写作任务。Casio电子辞典便于携带、使用方便、内容丰富等特点深受学生喜爱。笔者认为,正确、有效地利用电子辞典不仅能提高教师的课堂教学效率,而且对提升学生的词汇学习效果、英文阅读、写作水平及自学能力都有很大帮助。
